The Syllabus

Our course is split into two parts: In the first 9 weeks, you will learn the theoretical knowledge required to become a Business Analyst & a Scrum Master at once. In the last 4 weeks, you will be able to put your theoretical knowledge into practice via a hands-on internship in collaboration with Mariana Consultancy, whilst also getting interview-ready.

1: Introduction into Business Analysis, Project Management & SDLC

We will kick off the bootcamp by introducing students to the Business Analysis Knowledge Areas, the various Project Management methodologies (Agile & Waterfall) & the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

2: Conception - Strategy Analysis & Scrum Pillars

We will introduce the Conception Phase, which is the phase where various potential technology solutions are explored. Within this phase, we will cover Strategy Analysis, the first of the 6 Business Analysis Knowledge Areas. We will also cover the pillars of scrum.

3: Initiation - Business Analysis Planning and Monitoring & Scrum Artefacts

We will cover the Initiation phase, which is phase 1 of the SDLC, where top-level plans for gathering requirements for the chosen technology solution will be defined. Within this phase, we will cover Business Analysis Planning & Monitoring, the second business analysis knowledge area. We will also explore the various Scrum Artefacts (Terminologies).

4: Analysis - Elicitation and Collaboration, Basic Application Infrastructure, Jira & Confluence.

We will cover the Analysis phase, which is phase 2 of the SDLC, where a clear and detailed understanding of the chosen technology solution will be developed. Within this phase, we will cover Elicitation and Collaboration, the third business analysis knowledge area. Additionally, we will also cover the different application environments, Jira & Confluence.

5: Analysis - Requirements Analysis and Design & UML

Also within the Analysis phase, we will cover Requirements Analysis and Design, the 4th business analysis knowledge area. We will also cover Unified Modelling Language (UML), a key modelling skill a Business Analysts should know how to use.

6: Design - Requirements Life Cycle Management & Sprint Processes

We will cover the Design phase, which is phase 3 of the SDLC, where the requirement for the technology solution is structures and prepped for build. Within this phase, we will cover Requirements Life Cycle Management and sprint processes.

7: Construction - Requirements Life Cycle Management & Sprint Reporting

We will cover the Construction phase, which is phase 4 of the SDLC, where the technology solution is built. Within this phase, we will continue exploring Requirements Life Cycle Management. We will also look at sprint reporting.

8: Testing - Requirements Life Cycle Management & UAT Testing

We will cover the Testing phase, which is phase 5 of the SDLC, where the technology solution will be tested. We will spend some time on UAT testing, which is the most popular type of testing.

9: Deployment - Solution Evaluation & Release Planning

We will cover the Deployment phase, which is phase 6 of the SDLC, where the built and tested technology solution will be made available to users. Within this phase, we will cover Solution Evaluation, the 6th Business Analysis Knowledge Area. We will also briefly look into Release Planning, which explores the various ways in which the technology solution will be made available to users.

10: Internship – Solution Definition

In the first week of the internship, you will spend some time defining your technology solution in your assigned group. You will also be introduced to the developers you will be working with.

11: Internship – Sprint 1 & CV Writing

In the second week of the internship, you will work in your groups with the developers to start building your technology solution. We will also spend some time guiding you through how to write your CV.

12: Internship – Sprint 2 & STAR Scenario Creation

In the third week of the internship, you will continue working in your groups with the developers to build your technology solution. We will also spend some time guiding you on how to prepare for interviews using the STAR technique.

13: Internship - Sprint 3 & Interview Prep

In the fourth week of the internship, you will continue working in your groups with the developers to finalise the build of your technology solution. We will also start doing mock interviews using the STAR technique you learned the previous week.
